PVS rotational rheometer

The Brookfield PVS is a coaxial cylinder, controlled shear rate rotational rheometer used in pressurized applications at temperatures where sample boiling presents a problem. The PVS can be used to simulate the processing conditions of small liquid samples in a laboratory bench environment. Applications include chemical compounds containing volatile substances, the oil industry, drilling mud and fracturing fluids, processed foods, polymers, and paints. Any testing sample that requires absolute viscosity measurement under completely enclosed conditions is suitable for measurement with the PVS rotational viscometer.

Brookfield AMETEK PVS Rotational Rheometer

Operating Principle:

The outer cylinder (sample cup) is driven by a stepper motor at speeds ranging from 0.05 to 1000 rpm. The inner cylinder (bob) contains an RTD probe on its surface, allowing temperature measurement where the shear stress is applied. Various cup and bob geometries are available for different applications.

The unique torque-tube design allows the instrument to respond to small viscosity changes and mechanically, without friction, transmits the rotational torque signal from the pressurized region. This ensures that all electronics, bearings, and sensitive components are fully protected from both the sample liquid and its vapor effects.
